DIRECTV NOW sound and video issues on Amazon Fire TV devices

If you experience sound or video playback issues with the DIRECTV NOW application on your Amazon Fire TV device, first try these basic steps that may resolve the issue:

  • Check your hardware (HDMI) connection
  • Restart your Amazon Fire TV device
  • Check for your Amazon Fire TV device for updates
  • Close the DIRECTV NOW app
  • Uninstall and reinstall the DIRECTV NOW app

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, try the following:

  1. Select the Settings section.
  2. Select the Apps menu.
  3. Select the Manage Installed Apps option.
  4. Select the DIRECTV NOW app.
  5. Select Clear Cache.
  6. Select Clear Data from the pop-up menu.
  1. Select Settings > Preferences > Data Monitoring.
  2. Select Video Quality.
  3. Update the setting to Good. (Good, Better, Best)
  1. Select Settings > System > Network from the menu.
  2. Locate your current network and the signal strength reading alongside it.
  3. To switch to a different network, select Rescan.
  4. Select the network to which you wish to connect.
  5. If prompted, enter the password.
  6. Once complete, select Connect.
