DIRECTV NOW sound and video issues on iPad, iPhone or iPod touch

If the DIRECTV NOW application launches on your Apple device, but plays no video or sound, try these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Sound issues only:
    • Make sure your device isn't set to Silent mode.
    • Check the audio volume on your device.
  2. Restart your device.
  3. Check for DIRECTV NOW app updates.
  4. Check for iOS device updates.

If the above did not resolve the issue, the following steps may also help: 

  1. Press and hold the DIRECTV NOW app until it starts to shake onscreen.
  2. Select the x.
  3. Select Delete.
  4. Press the Home button to exit delete mode.
  5. Launch the App Store on your Apple device.
  6. Search for and select the DIRECTV NOW app.
  7. Select the Cloud icon.
  8. If prompted, enter your Apple ID and password to download.
  9. Launch the app and attempt to sign in.

Streaming issues can also happen when your device’s memory is almost full. Here’s how to check your device’s memory.

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Choose Storage & iCloud Usage. Under the storage heading, your device displays Used versus Available space.
  4. If your memory is almost full, try uninstalling apps you no longer need.

To confirm the quality of your Internet connection, try the following:

  1. Launch other Internet apps on the same device.
  2. Confirm that these apps connect readily to the Internet.
  3. See if other web-enabled devices in your vicinity are connected.
  4. Select Settings.
  5. Select Wi-Fi.
  6. Turn off Wi-Fi.
  7. If using a mobile data-enabled device, confirm that you can log in using your wireless carrier.
  8. Select Settings
  9. Select Wi-Fi.
  10. Turn WiFi on. Network options appear.
  11. Select the name of the network you want to join.

If still unable to obtain a Wi-Fi signal, please contact your Internet Service Provider for support.

If you are using mobile data, try connecting to an available Wi-Fi network.

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Select Wi-Fi.
  3. Make sure that Wi-Fi is turned On. If connected to a network, a check mark appears alongside its name.
  4. To connect to a different network or a new network, select the network you want to join.
  5. If required, enter the password.
  6. Select Join. Once connected, a check mark appears next to the network's name. If unable to connect, check with the network administrator for the correct password.
